Neubaum v. Buck Glove Co.

Neubaum v. Buck Glove Co., 302 S.W.3d 912 (Tex. App.—Beaumont 2009, pet. denied)

This multi-million dollar case arose from a series of business transactions between the plaintiff and the defendants.  The plaintiff called these transactions “loans” and sued for usury.  The defendants called them investments that turned out to be an elaborate Ponzi scheme.  After a jury awarded the plaintiffs $4 million, Beck Redden was hired to represent the defendants on appeal.  The court of appeals reversed and eliminated the $4 million judgment.  Beck Redden partner David Gunn handled the appeal with the aid of his colleague Erin Huber.
