Beck Redden Lawyers Pitch in for New Orleans

  • September 22, 2015

Ten years ago, Hurricane Katrina left complete devastation along the Gulf Coast, bringing The Big Easy to its knees.  To show the Crescent City their support in commemorating the tenth anniversary of that catastrophic hurricane, Beck Redden lawyers participated in a “Day of Service” during the Firm’s annual retreat held this year in New Orleans.  On September 19th, the Firm partnered with HandsOn New Orleans to assist in preparing the Einstein Charter School’s Sarah Towles Reed Campus for its first academic year.  On the actual August 29th anniversary date, HandsOn New Orleans initially rallied more than 1,000 single site volunteers at this same Einstein location, making it the largest single site anniversary volunteer project this year.

Thirteen Beck Redden lawyers and spouses painted the school’s bathrooms and hung bulletin boards throughout the school.

Einstein Charter School

Einstein’s Reed Campus serves underprivileged middle schoolers in New Orleans East, a part of the city still struggling to rebuild. Einstein Charter School has turned around two previously failing schools since 2006 and earned the Louisiana Department of Education’s “Top Gains School” designation in 2012 and 2013.  Einstein took over the Reed Campus in July 2015, its third charter school in New Orleans.
