Final Judgment for Edloe Finch Exceeds $2.15 Million in Warehouse Overcharging Case
September 25, 2025Case Study
Edloe Finch, LLC v. UNIS, LLC
Following Beck Redden’s February jury verdict for Edloe Finch in its breach of contract dispute with warehouse provider UNIS, the 55th Civil District Court in Harris County has entered a final judgment. Signed September 25, 2025, the judgment awarded the online furniture company more than $2.15 million, which includes the full amount of attorney’s fees and court costs, in addition to damages and prejudgment interest.
The dispute arose after Edloe Finch discovered nearly $800,000 in invoicing discrepancies—such as inflated weights and charges for unused supplies—over a multiyear period. Before hiring Beck Redden, our client offered to settle the case for $620,000, but UNIS refused. Edloe Finch then hired Beck Redden to file suit in 2023 to recover those overcharges, and UNIS responded with counterclaims seeking more than $2 million in alleged unbilled charges and attorney’s fees.
Pretrial rulings narrowed the issues for trial by eliminating several of UNIS’s defenses and claims. After the seven-day trial in February 2025, the jury found UNIS in breach of contract and ruled entirely in favor of Edloe Finch, leading to the final judgment of just over $2.15 million entered in its favor, which includes more than $1 million in attorney’s fees incurred by Edloe Finch that UNIS is now required to pay.
Beck Redden partner Matthew Whitley served as lead attorney, supported by Fariha Jawed. Appellate partner Nicholas Bruno provided appellate support. UNIS has not yet indicated whether it will appeal.
