Parth S. Gejji is an associate in Beck Redden’s appellate section. Parth focuses his practice on civil appeals and complex civil litigation.

In addition to his work on appellate matters, Parth provides appellate assistance at the trial court level. This work ranges from briefing dispositive motions to drafting the jury charge and arguing at the charge conference. Parth consults with trial lawyers regarding litigation strategy with an eye on error preservation, analysis of complex legal issues, and keeping the focus on the big picture legal issues.

Parth has represented plaintiffs and defendants in cases involving a variety of subject matters, including cases dealing with antitrust law and the Foreign Trade Antitrust Improvements Act (FTAIA), contract law, the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), tort law, defamation law, the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and products liability law.

Parth is honored to have been recognized by his peers as a 2024 “Rising Star” in Appellate litigation in Thomson Reuters Super Lawyers – Texas. Before joining Beck Redden, Parth clerked for the Honorable Patrick E. Higginbotham of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.  Outside of the courtroom, Parth devotes his time to serving local and state professional bar organizations and community projects.

    • Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp. v. Zepeda, 601 S.W.3d 763 (Tex. 2020)
      Assisted in briefing an appeal involving a certified question from the Fifth Circuit regarding Section 50 of the Texas Constitution regarding the requirements of home mortgage loans.
    • Levinson Alcoser Associates, L.P. v. El Pistolón II, Ltd., 513 S.W.3d 487 (Tex. 2017)
      Assisted in briefing an appeal concerning the certificate of merit requirement found in Texas Civil Practice and Remedies Code Chapter 150.

    United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit

    • Hewlett-Packard Co. v. Quanta Storage, Inc., 961 F.3d 731 (5th Cir. 2020)
      Assisted in securing affirmance of a $438 million antitrust judgment based on a price-fixing conspiracy involving optical disk drives. The appeal also involved an issue regarding the district court’s ability to enforce its judgment by ordering the defendant to turn over its assets to HP.  As the Fifth Circuit put it, “Quanta risked bet-the-company litigation and lost, so the district court ordered it to hand over the company.”

      Lead appellate counsel in a summary judgment appeal involving a defamation claim.

      Assisted in briefing an appeal regarding employee versus independent contractor status under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
    • Nester v. Textron, Inc., 888 F.3d 151 (5th Cir. 2018)
      Assisted in securing affirmance of a $7.5 million products liability judgment in favor of a plaintiff who suffered serious injuries. The appeal involved important questions regarding Texas products liability law, jury charge practice in the Fifth Circuit, and evidentiary and bifurcation issues.
    • Shawler v. Big Valley, L.L.C., 728 F. App’x 391 (5th Cir. 2018)
      Presented oral argument to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit regarding the meaning of a “small passenger vessel” found in Title 46 of the U.S. Code.
    • Chesapeake Energy Corp v. NLRB, 633 F. App’x 613 (5th Cir. 2016)
      Assisted in drafting a successful petition for review from the NLRB’s decision that waiver of class or collective arbitration constituted an unfair labor practice.

    • Equistar Chemicals, LP v. ClydeUnion DB, Ltd., 579 S.W.3d 505 (Tex. App.—Houston [14th Dist.], pet. denied)
      Assisted in briefing an appeal regarding the relevance of an opportunity to cure under the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) and the offer-of-settlement provision under Texas Rule of Civil Procedure 167.
    • AirCon Corp. v. Figgs, No. 14-18-00934-CV (Tex. App.—Houston [14th Dist.])
      Assisted in briefing an appeal involving a $33 million products liability judgment in favor of our client who suffered serious injuries. The case settled while on appeal. Assisted plaintiff’s trial counsel with legal issues at trial court level.
    • Arrows Up, LLC v. SandBox Logistics, LLC, No. 14-18-01091-CV (Tex. App.—Houston [14th Dist.])
      Assisted in briefing an appeal involving a $49 million judgment in favor of our client, SandBox. The appeal involved issues regarding non-disclosure agreements. The case settled while on appeal. Assisted the Beck Redden trial team with legal issues at trial court level.
    • In re Wagner, 560 S.W.3d 309 (Tex. App.—Houston [1st Dist.], orig. proceeding [mand. denied])
      Assisted in obtaining a vacatur of a post-verdict new trial order. The vacatur resulted in the reinstatement of a $8 million personal injury verdict in favor of our client.

    • Represented a widow in a lawsuit regarding life insurance proceeds. Assisted trial counsel with legal briefing and analysis of the Texas Insurance Code and argued the directed verdict motion and the jury charge conference.
    • Represented a municipality in a lawsuit against engineering professionals and others. Assisted trial counsel with summary judgment briefing. The case settled successfully before trial.
