Our Firm

Pro Bono

The opportunity to translate legal skills into meaningful results for individuals in need is significant and viewed as both a responsibility and a privilege among Beck Redden’s lawyers.

Beck Redden partners closely with Houston Volunteer Lawyers and other organizations to represent a diverse set of pro bono clientele with a wide array of legal needs. Beck Redden also recognizes the tremendous experience a robust pro bono practice presents for its lawyers:

Beck Redden’s philosophy as it relates to pro bono work is that it is a win-win for our lawyers. To have the opportunity to serve the community and gain valuable experience managing cases the whole way through is incredibly rewarding.
Geoff Gannaway, Partner and Former Professional Development Chair

While the commitment to pro bono work is an institutional pillar of the Firm, the freedom to act on it is individual. We believe encouraging our lawyers to connect with the work they do further amplifies the Firm’s impact in the community.

Beck Redden’s pro bono work includes:
  • Civil legal services to low income or underserved persons or groups
  • Section 1983 civil rights litigation
  • Claims under U.S. immigration law
  • Family law issues
  • Appellate advocacy and impact litigation, including filing petitions for writ of certiorari with the United States Supreme Court
  • Pro bono legal services through local programs including the Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program, the Tahirih Justice Center, and the National Veterans Legal Service Program

The heart behind Beck Redden’s extensive pro bono work stems from our general spirit of volunteerism and commitment to helping our community.
