EAS Development, LLC v. Rent-A-Tire, LP in the 472nd Judicial District Court of Brazos County, Texas.
On June 29, 2026, after a 6-day trial, a Brazos County jury delivered a verdict in favor of Beck Redden client EAS Development, a general contractor, in its breach of contract lawsuit against national chain Rent-A-Tire. EAS filed suit for breach of contract in 2024 after Rent-A-Tire refused to pay a portion of the bills associated with EAS’s renovation of an abandoned building from the 1950s to turn it into a modern Rent-A-Tire store. In response, Rent-A-Tire filed counterclaims accusing EAS of negligently damaging Rent-A-Tire’s property and including hundreds of thousands of dollars of unnecessary, unsupported or fraudulent charges on its invoices.
After the close of evidence, the trial court granted a directed verdict dismissing all of Rent-A-Tire’s counterclaims and affirmative defenses. The jury subsequently found for EAS on every remaining issue, which entitles EAS to now seek recovery of its attorney’s fees and other litigation expenses from Rent-A-Tire.
