Our Firm

Opportunity for All

At Beck Redden, we are deeply committed to fostering a culture grounded in equity and fairness—both in our office and in the broader legal community.

We believe that helping attorneys of all backgrounds succeed requires a commitment to fostering professional growth and monitoring progression. Research shows that measured attention to feedback, mentorship, and opportunities can move the needle in creating a workplace where everyone can achieve their full potential.

Over the past five years, we have undertaken a number of efforts in these areas designed to help all of our attorneys succeed. This includes our firm mentor pods, a unique mentorship model that enables attorneys to learn from a small group of colleagues. It also includes a commitment by all partners to help associates take on additional responsibilities and to proactively staff cases to ensure associates have the opportunities necessary to become first chair trial and appellate lawyers.

Our Work Within Our Walls

People work best when they feel respected, valued, and empowered. A real sense of belonging makes us stronger lawyers and better advocates for our clients. We have undertaken a number of efforts in these areas designed to help all of our attorneys succeed.

  • Mentorship pods
A unique mentorship model that enables attorneys to learn from a small group of colleagues.
  • Partner commitment to intentionally staff cases
We want every associate to build the skills necessary to become first chair trial and appellate lawyers.
  • Firmwide Skills Training
Beck Redden lawyers are trained by Beck Redden lawyers. We do not outsource our skills training. Our brand is the way we practice and each lawyer is trained by our seasoned lawyers. While there is no substitute for organic opportunities for growth, we host several training sessions throughout the year to augment each associate’s growth and development.
  • Firmwide inclusion and management training
Beck Redden has invested years into training our attorneys on how to be effective leaders and advocates. By engaging trusted experts, our attorneys have been trained in both effective advocacy and strong people management.
  • Commitment to Gender Fairness
As signatories of the Houston Bar Association’s 2021 Gender Fairness Commitment, we are continually evaluating and improving our practices to support access to excellent opportunities for every lawyer.
  • Women’s Initiative
Started by women, for women, our Women’s Group is a robust network of women attorneys and allies at the firm who support each other through both formal and informal networking and mentorship opportunities. We recognize that the path to partnership requires intentional support, and our leaders are closely involved in supporting associates as they navigate career growth and partnership paths.
Our Work Towards Building an Inclusive, Sustainable Workplace

Inclusion requires more than representation. It requires working conditions that allow people to sustain their careers. Access to balance, flexibility, and well-being resources are essential to ensuring that all attorneys can fully participate and thrive.

Our benefits reflect this commitment by offering:

  • Gender-neutral paid parental leave
We offer one of the longest parental leave opportunities in the industry for both attorneys and staff at 18 weeks for primary caregivers and 12 weeks for secondary caregivers.
  • Flexible Work Arrangements for Attorneys
While we value in-person collaboration and maintain an office-centered practice, we offer attorneys the flexibility to work remotely as needed to manage both professional and personal demands.
  • Uniform spousal benefits coverage
We treat all married couples the same, regardless of sexual orientation.
  • Supportive resources for nursing mothers
We offer well-appointed pumping rooms with refrigerated storage and comfortable accommodations for attorneys in the office. While traveling on the job, we reimburse for milk shipments.
  • Mindful Return
For attorneys returning from parental leave, we offer a program designed to assist in the transition back to the workplace.
  • Family-Focused Firm Events
We recognize the important role families play in supporting our attorneys and staff. Throughout the year, we host events that welcome them into firm life, including fall gatherings, Breakfast with Santa, and our annual attorney retreat, where spouses are invited.
Our Work Outside the Firm

Encouraging authenticity has always been part of who we are. We want people to be themselves here and to stay engaged with the communities and causes they care about. That involvement matters—to them and to how we work together.

We are proud of their involvement in these initiatives that are aimed at making the legal community a more welcoming and inclusive place to be.
