Partner David J. Beck to Receive Justice Eugene A. Cook Professionalism Award

Beck Redden LLP is pleased to announce that Founding Partner David J. Beck will receive the 2021 Justice Eugene A. Cook Professionalism Award from the Houston Bar Association.

This award is presented to a lawyer or judge who exemplifies the highest level of professionalism and legal ethics. When learning that he would be the recipient of this year’s award, Mr. Beck said, “I am sure there are attorneys more deserving, but given the Award’s past recipients, and the fact it is named for Justice Cook, I am deeply honored.”

David J. Beck, formerly a senior partner at Fulbright & Jaworski in Houston, Texas, founded Beck Redden LLP in January 1992. Mr. Beck previously served as President of the State Bar of Texas (1995-96), President of the American College of Trial Lawyers (2006-07), President of the International Association of Defense Counsel (1991-92); and Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Center for American and International Law (2011-15). He was named by the National Law Journal as one of the top 10 trial lawyers in the United States and one of the top trial lawyers in the Southwest. He has been included in The Best Lawyers in America© for over thirty years, in eight separate areas of litigation practice.

In 2015, he was appointed to a six-year term on the University of Texas System Board of Regents by Governor Greg Abbott. He has been named a “Distinguished Alumnus” of The University of Texas at Austin (2010); an “Outstanding Alumnus” of The University of Texas Law School (2000); and is a Life Member, University of Texas Law School Foundation Board of Trustees (President, 2002-2006). He is currently an Adjunct Professor at The University of Texas Law School.
