Summer Associates

Our summer program is designed to allow law students to experience life as an associate at Beck Redden.

Summer associates perform a variety of substantive legal work for actual clients under the supervision of Beck Redden attorneys, and they experience first-hand the nature of our practice by attending trials, hearings, depositions, client meetings, and strategy sessions. There is zero “make work” in our program.

During the summer, the Firm also offers a variety of social and community activities. These informal get-togethers allow summer associates the opportunity to better acquaint themselves with their colleagues outside of the office.

The ideal summer associate candidate has excelled academically and demonstrated strong written and oral advocacy skills. Candidates must be interested in litigation and ready to assume responsibility in ongoing trial and arbitration matters. Preference is given to students at the top of their class with law review or journal and advocacy experience. Additionally, the Firm encourages judicial clerkships. Cover letters, resumes, and transcripts should be sent to Hanali Patel, Recruiting and Program Operations Manager.

What stood out the most to me as a 2L summer associate was the sheer amount of hands-on meaningful work Beck Redden offers young attorneys. As an upcoming attorney, my biggest goal was to find a place that trusts its young attorneys with real responsibility and experience. To that, Beck Redden provides an unmatched environment for attorneys to develop.

– Alan Hakki, 2025 Summer Associate

Beck Redden stood out to me because the firm not only has excellent lawyers, but also takes the time to prepare young associates for success. From day one as a summer associate, I was given substantive assignments and worked closely with partners on high-level matters. Beck Redden’s combination of bright lawyers, exciting work opportunities, and passionate mentors makes it the ideal firm for a young attorney.

– Brandon Charnov, 2025 Summer Associate

Beck Redden is starkly set apart by the level of trust it places in summer associates. In my short six weeks at the firm, I had the opportunity to draft substantial portions of appellate briefs and support associates at hearings and depositions on a variety of cases. If you want to litigate with brilliant and dedicated lawyers who will invest in your growth, this is the place to be.

– Kali Venable, 2024 Summer Associate

I immediately felt like I made an impact when I joined Beck Redden as a 1L summer associate. I received assignments on active cases and was given the opportunity to make substantive contributions to each case. The constructive feedback I received showed me the Firm’s dedication to developing young attorneys.

– Kelsey Eyanson, Associate and 2021 and 2022 Summer Associate

The biggest draw to the Firm was the people—Beck Redden attorneys all take their work seriously, but not themselves. The collegiality, accessibility, and passion of each person I interacted with made it clear that Beck Redden was the best place for an aspiring trial attorney to develop.
