Three Appellate Lawyers Elected to the Partnership

Beck Redden is pleased to welcome Nicholas Bruno, Parth S. Gejji, and Joshua S. Smith to the partnership.
Nicholas Bruno brings extensive experience as lead appellate counsel both in the trial court and in the appellate system, representing clients across every level of the Texas appellate system as well as the Fifth Circuit, other federal appellate courts, and state appellate courts across the country. Drawing on his clerkship with Justice Harvey Brown of the Texas First Court of Appeals, Nicholas is board-certified in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and his practice spans complex litigation, including commercial litigation, catastrophic injury cases, discovery mandamus proceedings, professional liability cases, and health care disputes. He is a 2024 “Rising Star” by Texas Super Lawyers and a 2025 Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Appellate litigation. An active contributor to the legal community, Nicholas is the Chair-Elect for the Houston Bar Association’s Appellate Practice Section and regularly writes for the HBA Appellate Lawyer, as well as variety of other legal publications. He attended what is now Houston Christian University, is a 2012 graduate of Thomas Edison State University, and a 2015 graduate of The University of Texas School of Law.
Parth S. Gejji focuses on civil appeals and complex litigation, offering appellate expertise, including briefing dispositive motions, drafting jury charges, preserving error at trial, and arguing appeals. He has presented oral argument at the Texas Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and various Texas courts of appeals. He has represented plaintiffs and defendants in diverse legal areas such as personal injury, products liability, contract disputes, antitrust, patent law, and defamation. Recognized as a 2024 “Rising Star” by Texas Super Lawyers and a 2025 Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in Appellate litigation, Parth’s experience includes clerking for The Honorable Patrick E. Higginbotham of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He is a 2007 graduate of The University of Texas at Austin and a 2013 graduate of The University of Texas School of Law.
Joshua S. Smith is a board-certified appellate specialist. He has given over fifteen appellate arguments—including five in front of the Texas Supreme Court (where he previously clerked). He has also argued before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and multiple Texas courts of appeals. Joshua is a “Rising Star” in Texas Appellate litigation (according to Thomson Reuters Super Lawyers), and he was recently recognized as “One to Watch” in Appellate litigation (by the 2025 Best Lawyers in America). Joshua handles high-stakes appeals across a broad range of subject matters, including oil and gas disputes, contract disputes, insurance and workers’ compensation law, personal injury cases, and complex commercial litigation. He is a 2014 graduate of Regent University School of Law, where he graduated with the highest GPA in his law school’s history. He is currently gearing up for his sixth argument in the Texas Supreme Court, which is set for January 2025.
