Beck Redden associate, Cassie Maneen, helped coach the winning mock trial team at the University of Houston Law Center (UHLC) Intrateam Mock Trial Competition last weekend. Cassie’s commitment to mentorship and learning, along with persuasive courtroom advocacy, embody core values of Beck Redden lawyers.

A former decorated mock trial competitor and UHLC alumni herself, Cassie joined the firm in 2020 and has since translated those mock trial skills of assiduous legal analysis, preparation, and storytelling into elite advocacy for clients in the courtroom. As a competitor-turned-coach, Cassie has a passion for helping translate mock trial work into meaningful experience that will serve students and professionals in their careers as lawyers.

In addition to the team’s win, Beck Redden summer associate, Karina Sanchez-Peralta, won “Best Prosecutor” among all students and teams. This follows her previous achievement as “Best Defense Counsel” in another competition.

Cassie coached alongside AmyJo “AJ” Foreman and the championship team included UHLC students, Megan Rose, John Henry Wilson, Katrina Schydlower, and Anna Seale. Judge Christine Weems (281st Harris County District court) manages the program for UHLC and Judge Tanya Garrison (157th Harris County District court) presided over the final round.
